b r i e f : Outskirts replicates and comments on the outer growth of the city by hyper-extending the 'leaves' to an over extended, over-sized dining room table. The plates threaten to take the whole table down, and to a certain extent have already rendered it useless. Two large format colour photographs of an empty construction site dress the wall of the gallery to the right of the table. The images are of the 'army' of houses that stand at attention at the boundary of the city limits. In the dirt in the foreground are the spiral jetty-like tracks left behind by a front-end loader. |
